Body Contouring

Body contouring improves the shape and tone of your underlying tissue that supports fat and skin and removes excess sagging fat and skin. It can occur after major weight loss, and can involve multiple surgical areas.

The procedures necessary to achieve your goals will be defined along with a plan for the timing of these procedures. Plastic surgery procedures that may be recommended by your physician include:

  • Breast lift: to correct sagging, flattened breasts
  • Arm lift: to correct sagging of the upper arms
  • Thigh lift: to correct sagging of the inner, outer and mid thigh

A lower body lift can be complete or partial. A complete lower body lift treats the buttocks, abdomen, waist, hips and thighs in one procedure. A circumferential incision around the body removes an apron of excess skin and fat and repositions and tightens tissues.

A combination of liposuction and surgical body lifts may be necessary to achieve an improved contour. Incision length and pattern depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed, as well as personal preference and surgical judgment. So just an anterior or just a posterior lift may be done at the time of a any surgical procedure.

The results of a body lift are visible almost immediately. It may take as long as one to two years for the final results to fully develop.
